Rising UFC welterweight star’s crass comments regarding Conor McGregor are bound to spark a reaction

The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 winner Warlley Alves doesn’t exactly see eye-to-eye with Conor McGregor on the fight game.

Alves (10-0, 4-0 UFC) is set to take on Bryan “The ManZant tapper” Barberena on UFC 198’s undercard.

The undefeated fighter believes that adding a scalp of Barberena’s calibre to his collection will provide a stepping stone for him to book bigger fights and achieve that ultimate goal of remaining unbeaten, speaking to Combate.

“I think after this fight or after my next one I’ll be facing someone in the top 10. I’m about the break the top 10, actually. Some guys I fought are closer to the top 10 than I am, I can’t understand that logic, but I have been doing my job.

“Honestly, top 10 or top 1, it doesn’t matter to me. What I want is to be undefeated and I won’t let anyone take that away from me.”

Such is Conor McGregor’s ability to remain in the limelight that even though he has no real connection with Alves’ next fight or UFC 198 in general, the Brazilian was still asked for his opinion on the Dubliner.

Alves did not sugar-coat it either, he made his feelings about the Notorious quite clear.

“Money is good, yes, but my mom made me a man, not a whore. I’m a man, so I don’t sell out. I am what I am and that’s the way I live. I want to work and be paid for it, of course. I want to make three or four million someday, too, but I’m not here for the money, I’m here to fight.”
