The mini resistance to all things Reebok continues.
Rafael dos Anjos is the latest UFC star to have his bank account nibbled after not wearing Reebok gear during fight week.
The lightweight champion, who has been heavily linked to a fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 197, has been fined ‘a significant amount’ for the offence.
Dos Anjos’ fashion crime occurred at the weigh-in for his title encounter with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone last month.
The Brazilian sported an Evolve MMA t-shirt just before he took to the scales. He was otherwise kitted out in Reebok apparel.
As champion, dos Anjos would have earned $40,000 for his fight.
According to MMA Fighting, dos Anjos trains, and acts as an instructor, at Evolve whenever her gets over to Singapore.
Although his management have yet to confirm the fine, Dos Anjos appears to be the third star to cop a financial punishment following on from the UFC Fight Night Orlando event.
Cerrone confirmed that he was fined for having an American flag sewn onto his shorts – during his first round loss to dos Anjos – while Nate Diaz implied, via Twitter, that he had been punished for wearing jeans at his weigh-in.
All three fines are included under the UFC’s Athlete Outfitting Policy.
