It seems the UFC share Conor McGregor’s confidence in the Dubliner being crowned the interim featherweight champion at UFC 189.
The UFC Fight Kit, aka that Star Trek-esque uniform that fighters will be forced to wear instead of their usual walkout attire, launched this week.
As well as having slightly different kits for certain fighters, usually depending on what country they’re from, the UFC also made a special gold and black number that will only be worn by champions… you can probably see where this is going.
That’s right, you’ve guessed it. For some inexplicable reason, a Conor McGregor UFC champion jersey is already available to buy from the UFC Reebok store. This is despite the fact that he is not a belt holder and will be taking on Chad Mendes for the interim featherweight title on July 11th.
Before you ask, no, a Chad Mendes champion kit hasn’t been made available from the official store to even up the karma odds.
This type of carry on doesn’t bode well for the Notorious. Remember when the English rugby team tried to pull the same crap in 2011 when they were certain they would win the Grand Slam? That didn’t turn out too well either.
