Pic: Dublin punter places huge bet on Conor McGregor to beat Jose Aldo

No pressure, McGregor

One Dublin native has a lot of faith in Conor McGregor usurping Jose Aldo’s 145 lb throne at UFC 194.

After pulling out of UFC 189 with a rib injury, Aldo has signed up to grant McGregor his shot at the featherweight strap on December 12th.

While every Irish MMA fan will be hoping the Notorious is victorious against the Brazilian, there is at least one person on the island who is a little bit more invested in the fight.

BoyleSports have revealed a Dubliner has backed up his faith in the Notorious becoming the UFC champion with a huge bet.  Liam Glynn, PR Executive at BoyleSports, revealed the Dublin bettor placed €18,000 on a McGregor victory at 3/5, which means they could pick up €28,800 if the Notorious wins.

The bookies have downed odds for this to happen because of the bet and currently McGregor is just 4/7 to score his seventh successive UFC victory against Aldo.

Meanwhile, one bookmaker is offering odds of 9/1 that Aldo will once again find a reason that he can’t be in that Octagon on December 12, which may be a handy insurance policy bet for anyone who has booked flights and accommodation in Las Vegas for the big fight.
