Peter Queally is set to meet Francois Kabulu tonight on the main card of EFC 35 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Welterweight boasts a 4-1 record going into the contest and cardio will not be an issue for the Irishman, having been the distance in each of his five professional bouts.
Queally is the latest fighter to come out of Straight Blast Gym to start making waves in the global MMA community and training with UFC fighters like Conor McGregor, Cathal Pendred and Paddy Holohan will stand him in good stead for this evening’s contest.
And the grappling expert has promised entertainment for the audience. At the open workouts, he told the crowd: “You’re going to see excitement. You’re going to see finishes. You’re going to see a true Irish warrior.”
His opponent, Francois “The Frenchman” Kabulu (7-3), will be looking to upset the promotional debut of Queally who became EFC’s first European signing since expanding from Africa to EFC Worldwide.
Both competitors are known for their grinding fight styles so expect a tactical battle of patience and timing before someone takes advantage of their opponent’s slip in concentration.
That’s not to say that Queally can’t knock Kabulu out. In his amateur days, he enjoyed a knockout for the ages with this 5 second head kick KO.
