Remarkably, Paige VanZant’s hideous foot injury isn’t what forced her to withdraw from huge card

Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong ahead of Paige VanZant’s scheduled UFC flyweight debut.

Paige VanZant was set to fight at 125 lbs against veteran Jessica Eye at UFC 216, but she has been forced to withdraw from the bout with, quite frankly, an astonishing number of injuries and ailments.

It’s hardly surprising considering that Murphy’s Law appears to have been destined to ruin this camp for the 23-year-old. Two months ago, she terrified fans by sending out a photo of a disgusting gash on her instep that looked like something out of the Walking Dead.

In fact, some people even thought it was special FX make-up until she was seen donning stitches on the same foot in the next few days.

That foot seems to have healed up, although everything else hasn’t.

A herniated disk in her back is the official reason why she can’t fight Eye, but there’s a lot more wrong with her. She also has infections in both ears, pink eye and ring worm.

This means she will have to wait before making her comeback from that loss to Michelle Waterson in December 2016.

Jessica Eye hasn’t fought since 2016 either. She was supposed to welcome Aspen Ladd to the Octagon  in July, but that bout fell through on fight night after her opponent suffered an illness.

Unsurprisingly, she didn’t take the latest withdrawal all that well.
