One of the most brutal chokes in UFC history

He couldn't tap quickly enough

What is it with this month and incredible submissions in MMA?

Demetrious Johnson dropped jaws in every corner of the globe at UFC 216 with a move that will take some serious beating for 2017’s submission of the year.

It’s just unfortunate that he wasn’t as good at naming his chin drop to an armbar he locked in mid-air as he was at executing it. The fans even put forward the brilliant suggestion of, ‘The Mouse Trap”. Not only does that work with DJ’s ‘Might Mouse’ moniker we all know and love, but the submission also looks a bit like a mouse trap.

Instead, Johnson opted to call it the ‘Mighty Whiz Bar’ which is a bit like being ‘blessed’ with an immaculately-conceived child and naming it ‘Adolf’.

Had it been any other year, all seven fans who tuned into UFC Gdansk may have witnessed the submission of the year during the main card fight between Jan Blachowicz and Devin Clark.

Blachowicz was in desperate need of a win after losing four of six fights inside the UFC Octagon and boy did he grab that victory in style. Clark charged forward and landed an overhand right against the cage, but made the mistake of leaving his neck exposed. Blachowicz pounced and got the squeeze from a standing position.

His win was announced as a standing rear-naked choke, but it was from a bulldog choke position.

If someone asked us to name, which nobody would ever do, we would call it, ‘the Mighty Whiz Choke.’
