It wasn’t always pretty but the Northern Irish boxer got the vital win that keeps his UFC career alive.

Norman Parke (21-4-1 MMA, 5-2-1 UFC) got the victory nod from the judges at UFC Dublin after he ground one out against Swedish fighter Reza Madidi.

While Parke could not land any finishing blows or submissions, we comfortably outscored his opponent.

Post-bout, Parke revealed that a third loss in a row, in the promotion, would have almost certainly been curtains.

“I’m happy I got the win,” he said, “because we all know what happens when you lose three in a row. You could be getting the nip.

“I live to see another day.”

“There was a lot at stake,” Parke added. “I’ve got a little kid on the way, in January, and if you lose another fight in the UFC you could get cut. That would be a big cut.

“I get my show bonus, I get my win bonus. This was a huge win for me as it gets me up in contention for the next tier.”

Parke is targeting another fight in December and, if Joseph Duffy is not fit to return, wants to take on Dustin Poirier.
