Nick Diaz won’t thank his brother for reopening this one.
Following his UFC 202 loss to Conor McGregor, Diaz vaped cannabidiol during his press conference and back-stage interviews.
“It’s CBD,” Diaz explained. “It helps with the healing process and inflammation, stuff like that.”
A statement from the United States Anti-Doping Agency, in October, pointed out that Diaz passed all his drug tests for the fight so a wrist-slap was its decision. The agency’s statement added:
‘Based on these circumstances, USADA determined that a public warning was an appropriate response to Diaz’s use of a specified substance during the in-competition period.’
USADA may want to listen back to an interview with Nick Diaz, Nate’s brother, on The Jasta Show earlier this month.
Nick Diaz is only recently back from an 18 month ban for having cannabis in his system during a 2015 drug test. Only last week, the Stockton native was cleared to compete again in Nevada. On his brother’s post-fight vaping, Diaz said:
“It doesn’t matter because he had already tested. They don’t let you go to the press conference until you’ve already pissed.
“That wasn’t CBD, he was smoking chronic. He was smoking cush.”
Diaz says he is open to speak about cannabis with as many people as possible in the hopes of dispelling the stigma of soft drug use. “I do believe they are performance enhancers,” he commented.
