It won’t be happening in Ireland, but at least Joseph Duffy and Dustin Poirier will finally get to slug it out.
UFC Dublin’s loss is UFC 195’s gain as the scrapped main event for the Irish card has found a new home in Las Vegas.
The two rising lightweights were scheduled to throw down in the headline bout at Fight Night 76, but two days before the event Duffy was forced to pull out after sustaining a concussion during sparring.
It was announced on UFC Tonight that Duffy (14-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and Poirier (18-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) has been rescheduled for the huge UFC 195 card that takes place January 2 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. There was no indication whether it will serve on the event’s pay-per-view main card or the preliminary bouts.
The highly anticipated card will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lalwer and Carlos Condit, while it will also feature a heavyweight clash between Stipe Miocic, who also withdrew from Dublin with an injury, and Andrei Arlovski.
