Eoghan Corry and Tom McGurk did not fare well on social media last night, or this morning.
TV3’s Late Review, last night, debated the merits of Mixed Martial Arts and argued whether it would have a long-standing popularity in Ireland.
John Kavanagh, Straight Blast Gym owner and coach of Conor McGregor, took Corry, a noted sports journalist Eoghan Corry and, for much of the debate, McGurk, the show’s host.
Kavanagh gave a spirited defence of MMA and toppled many of Corry’s debating pillars.
Following the on-air discussion, Corry gave Kavanagh kudos for arguing his corner.
Fair play to John Kavanagh on his spirited defence on #Latereview tonight in face of my point that MMA is ephemeral & inconsequential

The reaction to Corry and McGurk’s take on MMA, however, was heavily sided in favour of the sport.
MMA fans took to Twitter in droves to debunk many of the points raised by Corry and, as a whole, to vent their spleen.
For those that missed the debate

@eoghancorry you went into that with literally no knowledge of MMA, you embarrassed yourself in the eyes of anyone educated on the matter.
