Miesha Tate slams Ronda Rousey’s “charging bull in a china shop” approach to Holly Holm

Miesha Tate thinks she knows where Ronda Rousey went wrong in her last fight.

We need not remind you that Rousey got her ass, and neck, handed to her by a savage kick from Holly Holm that was almost as shocking as Conor McGregor’s 13-second knockout win of Jose Aldo.

Rousey has not pencilled in a return to action in the octagon yet, while Tate is next up for the UFC champion and will fight as part of the UFC 196 card on 5 March in Las Vegas.

Tate has been speaking to Fox Sports about the fight and has been explaining why she won’t make the mistakes as the former champion.

“I think Ronda went into that fight with Holly thinking, ‘If I don’t finish this girl in under two minutes, I’m already a failure,’ and she went in there with such desperation to get a quick finish — she had 25 minutes to get that fight to the ground and submit Holly. I think Ronda is capable of that, but I think she mentally beat herself up after not being able to do that in the first round. Hey it’s OK, you have 20 more minutes, like, relax for a second.”

Tate feels she will be much more patient than ‘Rowdy’ was a few months ago, and there is little doubt she will be a much more tactical opponent for Holm than the former UFC champion. Tate feels that taking her time could be key to her success, unlike Rousey.

“She just went out there like a charging bull in a china shop and she allowed Holly to play the perfect game plan. Holly was the matador, Ronda was the bull. The bull fell victim.”
