Mickey Gall called out ‘super corny’ Sage Northcutt after schooling CM Punk at UFC 203.
Fair play to Gall, he had his next opponent in mind when Joe Rogan stuck a microphone in his face. The UFC commentator wanted to speak about how he made Punk tap out but Gall had fresh business in mind.
He called out Northcutt, who was also discovered on Looking for a Fight, and UFC president Dana White responded that the powers that be would ‘make it happen’.
That fight may still happen but it will not be at UFC 205 in New York.
Mark Northcutt, Super’s father, told MMA writer Jonathan Shrager they had heard nothing from the UFC about a Gall fight. Asked about UFC 205 specifically, Northcutt said:
“Sage would never be able to be ready for that one because he hasn’t been able to train due to several things.
“Sage has a staph infection. The UFC’s trying to find an appropriate infectious disease doctor to look at it this week.”
Northcutt has been impressive at lightweight since his introduction to the company but he lost his only bout at welterweight after stepping up to 170 lbs on short notice.
Once Northcutt’s health issues clear up, it would appear he will stay at 155 lbs. As he is the bigger name, Gall would have to drop down from welterweight if he wants to tick off another big name.
