Michelle Waterson is happy to grapple with “unorthodox” Aisling Daly

"She's nice and tough!"

Michelle Waterson is not concerned by Aisling Daly’s grappling credentials.

50% of Daly’s 16 professional wins have arrived by way of tapout but ‘The Karate Hottie’ is no slouch on the mat either and, like the Dubliner, she too has eight submission victories to her name.

On Tuesday, Daly vs. Waterson was announced as the latest addition to the UFC’s Hamburg show in September, a card which is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett.

The strawweight bout will be the first 2016 outing for both fighters, with Daly’s latest fight resulting in a decision win over Ericka Almeida in Dublin last October and Waterson drawing the tap from Angela Magana last July.

And days after the fight was announced, the Jackson Wink fighter revealed that she believes she has Daly’s strategy sussed.

“I think she’s a very unorthodox fighter,” Waterson told reporters in Chicago.

“She’s fought bigger girls so she’s nice and tough. She likes to come forward.

“She’s not afraid to get in there. She’s not afraid to take a couple of punches and take it to the ground to finish you off which is what, to me, she likes to do is grapple .

“I have no problem grappling so I think it will be a very interesting fight.”
