Few, if any, have started a trash-talk war with the Notorious and emerged the other end as the victor.
Michael “The Count” Bisping is set to headline the historic UFC Fight Night 72 card, the first ever Scotland-based event in the promotion’s history.
While promoting his main event bout with Thales Leites, “The Count” could help but use the the opportunity to score a sly dig at Conor McGregor.
Since 2014, UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin has held the accolade of being the fastest selling European UFC event in the promotion’s history. A capacity crowd inside the O2 Arena witnessed the acerbic-tongued Irish man fulfill his promise and knock Diego Brandao out in the headline fight that night.
However, Bisping told MMAJunkie that the upcoming Glasgow event sold out even quicker than the Dublin card.
“Fastest sellout in the history of the European UFC! Conor McGregor? Dublin? Sorry, my friends.”
“Bigger arena, more people, faster sellout – that’s how you do it! Step your game up, Conor!”
McGregor could counter by suggesting that it’s the inclusion of Irish trio Joseph Duffy, Patrick Holohan and Paul Redmond on the Glasgow card that gave the card the requisite boost in interest to encourage fight fans to flock to the vendors at record speeds.
Either that, or just bring up the little fight he has coming up in the MGM Grand Arena in Vegas for that coveted golden strap.
