Khabib Nurmagomedov has called on his fans to keep themselves under control after their behaviour forced him to leave a pre-arranged event early.
‘The Eagle’ had set up a meeting with supporters in Russia after his TKO of Darrell Horcher extended his unbeaten MMA career to a 23-0.
But the meeting – arranged by Reebok Russia – was far more popular than anticipated, with approximately 3,000 showing up in an attempt to see the undefeated lightweight in the flesh.
Nurmagomedov, who is 7 for 7 since making his UFC debut in 2012, apologised for leaving early after thousands showed up hoping to get autographs or photos.
“I’m sorry that I left the meeting, but the situation went out of control,” the Russian posted to his Instagram account.
“We did not expect that many to come – more than 3,000 people.”
“I want to appeal to my fans, so next time you behave a little more reserved,” he added.
