Even above the din created by Conor McGregor in New York, ‘The Eagle’ was making himself heard and ruffling some feathers.
Clearly unhappy with how his name was used in the negotiations for the Conor McGregor-Eddie Alvarez fight, it is unsurprising Khabib Nurmagomedov is now agitating to be next in line for a ‘Red Panty Night’.
In the midst of submitting Michael Johnson in the third round at UFC 205, the Russian was screaming at Dana White, looking for a title shot.
McGregor now holds that lightweight title, after his second round stoppage of Alvarez and, if he has some reservations about fighting the injury-prone Nurmagomedov, the challenger is desperate to take on the Dubliner.
“I talk to Dana between every round. I say, ‘don’t send me anymore of your fake contracts. I need real contract.’
“He say, ‘You have to finish this fight’. I say, ‘You know I deserve this. You have to send after this fight a real contract.’ He say, ‘Okay first you finish this’,” said the Russian, suggesting the UFC president had given him some guarantees through the wire mesh.

Claiming McGregor’s ability to cherry pick fights is ‘number one bullshit’, the sambo specialist said he would happily fight in Ireland if it meant locking horns with ‘The Notorious’.
“I finish fight now I am waiting for agreement, maybe Brooklyn, 209 in February, or 210 in Vegas. Russia, Ireland… it doesn’t matter. I can fight with him in his back yard,” he said.
“This is number 1 bullshit. I think all Irish fans understand who deserves this. I think I have a lot of Irish fans too. I dominate all my opponents. Conor come to lightweight and talk about, ‘Oh, I am greatest’,” he added.
“Why Tony Ferguson no fight for the title? Why I no fight for the title? Because this is no longer sport.”
