Donegal’s finest in action this July.
Joseph Duffy’s promotional debut couldn’t have gone much better back in March when he won his first bout under the UFC banner against Jake Lindsey in very impressive fashion inside the opening round.
The Donegal man (who we’re almost contractually obliged to say at this stage was the last man to beat Conor McGregor) has now lined up his next fight against Ivan ‘Batman’ Jorge in July at an event in Scotland.
Brazil’s Jorge is currently 26-4 and has 13 submission victories in his career so far with his last outing a decision win over Josh Shockley in February.
Duffy’s fight is one of the first confirmed for the UFC Fight Night 72 which takes place in Glasgow on the 18th of July, but it’s hoped that many more Irish fighters might be added to the bill.
The former boxer will be in action at lightweight but it’s believed that his long-term plan is to try and move to featherweight with a possible division switch expected before the end of year.
Could we see McGregor v Duffy II in 2016? Fingers crossed!
