After the endless slew of questions about Conor McGregor, Joseph Duffy has finally revealed his thoughts on how a rematch would go down.
UFC Dublin headliner Duffy appeared on a recent MMA Roasted podcast and you’ll never guess which fighter he was asked about.
The Donegal native was complimentary of McGregor during the interview, but he reckons that people are starting to grow weary of his antics outside the cage.
“Obviously Conor’s doing well, he’s brought a lot of attention to the sport but I think he is starting to get on people’s nerves a wee bit now. I think it is time now for a new Irish fighter to come through now.”
Duffy is the last man to beat the Notorious inside a cage, choking him out in an incredible 38-seconds in a lightweight bout at Cage Warriors in 2010. Although he feels that the Dubliner is a great fighter, he believes he’s not on the same level as himself.
“I believes he’s great but I just feel like I am better.”
When asked what he thinks would happen if he faced MCGregor again, Duffy reckons spectators would get a serious sense of deja vu.
“ I would beat him. I think it would be pretty similar [as the first time] to be honest.”
McGregor recently kicked his trash talk at Duffy’s expense up a notch by claiming he isn’t really Irish. We can only expect the Notorious to continue trying to push Duffy’s buttons as we head towards the highly anticipated Dublin card on October 24th.
