Jose Aldo’s coach opens up about his mindset going into Conor McGregor fight

"Aldo fell"

Andre Pederneiras reckons Conor McGregor’s psychological warfare didn’t play any factor in Jose Aldo being knocked out in 13 seconds at UFC 194.

Aldo’s coach spoke with Brazilian outlet Combate about the fight, hinting that the former champion made a key mistake in the contest, one he vows will never happen again.

“When Aldo came in with the straight, Conor stepped back. Then, to close the distance, Aldo came at him with the overhand, but Conor threw his left hook which got Aldo in the chin. Aldo’s punch hit him in the head, some people said it even cut Conor, but Conor hit him in the chin, so Aldo fell.”

He also revealed that McGregor’s mental torture in the build up to the fight didn’t have any impact on the result.

“Aldo wasn’t nervous, though. None of Conor’s shenanigans got to him. We were actually having a laugh in the locker room before the fight. That happened once and it will not happen again.”

Pederneiras added they are looking to get an immediate rematch, but have not confirmed anything yet.

“Aldo is very sad. He’s hoping to get an immediate rematch. It’s too soon so say anything, but I have spoken to Dana and I will call him so we can talk.”
