Jose Aldo will be pleased to see a familiar face scoring his fight card against Conor McGregor

‘Big John’ will run the rule over the most hyped fight of the year.

The UFC has assigned referees and judges to the two main fights on December 12.

Conor McGregor’s UFC 194 featherweight title unification bout with Jose Aldo will be reffed by ‘Big John’ McCarthy, who was in the octagon for Robbie Lawler’s war with Rory MacDonald at UFC 189.

The judges for the fight are Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato and Junichiro Kamijo.

Recently, Cleary and D’Amato disagreed over the Daniel Cormier’s split decision win over Alexander Gustaffson.

Kamijo last judged a UFC main event in February 2013 when he scored Aldo 49-46 over unsuccessful challenger Frankie Edgar. Many critics argued that the Aldo-Edgar fight was much closer than that score-card suggested.

Reporting on UFC 156 for The Telegraph, Gareth A Davies wrote, “There was shock in the arena when the scores of 49-46 (twice) and 48-47 were read out.”

The officials have also been announced for the Chris Weidman clash with Luke Rockhold.

Herb Dean will be the referee as champion Weidman puts it on the line against Rockhold.

The judges for that fight are Chris Lee, Marcos Rosales and Adalaide Byrd, who also scored Aldo 49-46 in that 2013 win over Edgar.
