Jose Aldo sounds like he’s genuinely looking forward to finally stepping inside the Octagon to fight Conor McGregor.
The first and only UFC featherweight champion is scheduled to take on the interim belt holder in December, and he reckons he can finally put all the McGregor talk to bed after UFC 194.
Aldo explained to media during a visit to his social project to celebrate Children’s Day that he has returned to training and his preparation for the bout is going well, as MMA Fighting reports.
“My preparation is great. I just came back from my physical training this morning, came to the social project, and will train more this afternoon. My preparation is getting harder now, but I’m fine. I started my camp a month ago and I’m feeling good now. It’s not the ideal yet, but I will get there.”
“Scarface” was forced to withdraw from his contest with the Notorious at UFC 189 after suffering a fractured rib during a sparring session. He revealed that he has completely gotten over the injury and he can’t wait to get back into the cage.
“Recovery was good, and now it’s time to focus on the future. It’s in the past, we have to look to the future and forget about the injury and anything else. I’m 100 percent already, playing soccer and able to train. Let’s hope nothing bad happens so we can get there and put an end to this story.”
He sounded confident that he would beat the Irish fighter in a manner that would allow him to never talk about him again after the fight.
“Yeah, (I’m tired), but I’m used to that already. I can deal with that now. It was supposed to be gone already, but after Dec. 12 we will win and we won’t talk about him anymore.”
