Jose Aldo never struck us a man with the best sense of humour in the world.
Going ten years undefeated in one of MMA’s most competitive divisions means that there’s not a whole lot of time for chuckling but he came up with a pretty funny comparison for the new Reebok fight kit.
The featherweight champion has been a long-time critic of the deal between the UFC and Reebok and it sounds like he hasn’t changed his mind one bit, judging by what he said at a press conference in his Rio de Janeiro gym today.
“It sucks, but what can we do?” Aldo said. “We know it’s a private company, everybody has their contracts.
“I don’t think it looks good, everyone has their own style. I can’t do anything about it, just talk. We have to accept. We are the Power Rangers.”
We got our first glimpse of UFC fighters wearing their kits last Saturday at UFC 189 but Aldo has revealed that he’s reserving judgement on the fight gear until he competes in it.
“We’ll see. When I try it out, I can talk about it.”
