Jorge Masvidal recorded the fastest knockout in UFC history with a five-second stoppage of the previously undefeated Ben Askren.
Masvidal circled right off the cage and ran at Askren before launching a flying knee into his attempted takedown and dropping the wrestler.
“Cause he’s a bum. That dude was talking wild. I had to show him that there’s consequences sometimes,” Masvidal told UFC commentator Joe Rogan after the fight. “There’s some bad motherf—kers out there and you don’t want to wake them up.
“You should have kept your mouth shut. I probably would have beat you up in the second round. You guys are welcome for ending that dude.”
Masvidal now boasts back-to-back wins over Askren and fellow contender Darren Till and he believes he now deserves a title shot at champion Kamaru Usman.
“I’m coming for that belt,” Masvidal said. “I don’t know who’s fighting next for it and what not but you guys know who deserves that belt. That’s 16 years of hard work. You guys know who deserves that belt.”
