Former UFC champion goes on immaculate rant about underwear at weigh-ins

He's missed weight in three of his last four fights

For the past number of fights, Johny Hendricks has had serious issues making weight.

Former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks has missed weight for three of his last four fights. After coming in overweight for back-to-back 170 lb bouts against Kelvin Gastelum and Neil Magny respectively, he moved up to middleweight.

After getting the cut right for his successful divisional debut against Hector Lombard, he missed weight for his sophomore middleweight bout and was subsequently TKO’d by Tim Boetsch.

The problems ‘Bigg Rigg’ has had with his weight have been well-documented, but he appears to be fed up with how much coverage it has received. This is a notable change from when he seemed content to poke fun at this persistent problem.

Hendricks has a tough challenge facing him at UFC 217 in the form of undefeated knockout artist Paulo Borrachinha. The good news is though that he passed the first test by coming in under the 186 lb limit… by 0.2 lb.

It was a close call, but he regaled media in attendance at the early weigh-ins of what happened. He claims he didn’t pay enough attention to his underwear.

“I misjudged last night that I thought I had some underwear that didn’t weigh anything. Well, I was wrong, so instead of losing 1.4 like I should have, I drank up 1.2, which was my fault. So I lost 1.2, just not for the underwear count when I should have lost 1.4, so I should have drank only one pound back.”

“So all you media people, I didn’t miss weight, I just misread the underwear. Hey, no negative. Do you hear me? No negative.”
