Jose Aldo has been warned.
Conor McGregor is a man who knows how to sell himself, so you naturally have to be a little bit cautious when you hear the featherweight speak.
But his coach John Kavanagh is measured, and usually very calm, in any of his statements before and after a fight.
So we listened with added interest to his comments on tonight’s MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani about what UFC fans can expect from McGregor this Saturday when he finally gets to face Jose Aldo.
Kavanagh spoke about McGregor’s time in LA so far, and how the training camp has been the best ever he’s experienced.
But he also slipped in a not so subtle warning to the Aldo camp about what the Brazilian may face on Saturday night,
“I’m really looking forward to it. Things have changed and even in the last few weeks I’ve noticed some changes in Conor. People are going to be very surprised by this fight and there’s a lot going to be happening.”
Kavanagh was then asked to try and expand on his theory, and he revealed that he feels McGregor’s a changed man, and much much faster than what he was
“I know him along time but he seems a lot quicker. I’m not sure if I’m starting to imagine things but we have Ido Portal here as well and he’s a different way of looking at things and I don’t know how anyone would prefer to fight Conor to be honest.”
“With Conor right now I don’t see any errors, it’s pretty special and it’s coming together at the right time. It’s going to be something out of a Bruce Lee movie.”
