If a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov is truly what Conor McGregor wants, Joe Rogan thinks he’s going about it all wrong.
McGregor’s approach up to now has been an aggressive one as he has taken aim at Nurmagomedov’s wife in a couple of hostile tweets which have since been deleted.
Most recently, ‘The Notorious’ suggested that he was happy with his performance in the pair’s grudge match at UFC 229 before revealing that he went into the Nurmagomedov fight with a broken foot.
McGregor wasted no time in rowing back on his recent retirement promise and according to long-time UFC commentator Joe Rogan, the Irishman is already training for a comeback.
“You don’t buy it, right? If you had to guess, he’s fighting again,” Rogan said on the latest episode of his podcast.
“Hans Molenkamp, from Monster. He sent me pictures sparring with Conor today. So Conor’s training, he is doing something. He’s training, he’s going to fight.
“He’s probably just fucking with people. Conor is a master showman in terms of how to keep people interested in him. I just think it got way out of line with this Khabib stuff.”
Rogan went on to explain how McGregor ought to go about convincing Nurmagomedov into a second clash.
The former Fear Factor host revealed that Nurmagomedov has already turned down a rematch with McGregor but that doesn’t mean it won’t ever take place.
“I don’t think the way to get another fight with Khabib is to continue talking shit after he smashes you. He doesn’t have any reason to,” Rogan said.

“I think, in order for him to have a real chance of getting another shot, what he’s got to do is beat somebody big and say something that makes Khabib consider it but not in the way that he’s been doing it in terms of talking shit about him and talking smack.
“The only way is to get public demand. He’s going to have to get to a position where people want to see him fight Khabib again but think that the result could be different this time.
“And maybe if he could just communicate something to him. Say, ‘I respect you. All trash talk aside, I’d like to test myself against you one more time and I think I’ve earned it.’
“I think that’s the only way he’s going to get it – win a couple of fights, beat some big-name guys and then make it something that Khabib is interested in.
“They already offered it to Khabib and Khabib said, ‘Fuck off!’
