Irish fighter Neil Seery’s next UFC bout revealed

It's not on the card you might have thought

Neil Seery has gotten his next fight in the UFC and it isn’t on the Boston card.

The Irish flyweight has been added to the first European UFC stadium event in Stockholm on January 24. It might come as somewhat of a surprise that he didn’t get a slot on the “I can’t believe it’s not UFC Dublin” card in Boston which features his compatriots Cathal Pendred, Patrick Holohan, Norman Parke and, of course, Conor McGregor.

Seery’s opponent for Sweden will be undefeated American Chris Beal (10-0). Beal, a cast member on TUF 18, holds two wins under the UFC banner, over Pat Williams and Tateki Matsuda respectively.

Dubliner Seery (14-10) enters into this bout off the back of a dominant decision win over Phil Harris on that magical night for Irish MMA in Dublin in July. He had been scheduled to fight Richie Vaculik on the recent Australian card but pulled out of the contest with a broken rib.

Judging by what the man himself tweeted today, stamina should not be an issue against the American.

UFC on Fox 14 is headlined by a light heavyweight title eliminator bout between Swedish phenom Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. The card also features a middleweight clash between MMA legend Dan Henderson and the Armenian Assassin Gegard Mousasi. Also, number six-ranked light heavyweight Phil Davis will square off against number nine Ryan Bader.
