Ice Cube could still stand in the way of Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather at the T-Mobile Arena

Talks are underway

Conor McGregor is expected to make his boxing debut opposite Floyd Mayweather on August 26 at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

There is a little problem with that, however.

The 3-on-3 basketball league set up by rapper Ice Cube, Big 3, currently has that date booked for that particular arena.

TMZ quotes sources who claim that discussions are underway between Mayweather Promotions and Ice Cube in the hope that the latter will move his event to the nearby MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Realistically, there is just too much money associated with McGregor vs. Mayweather for the boxer’s team to allow a basketball league to force the fight card to a smaller venue.

Ice Cube is likely just waiting to be properly compensated before he acquiesces to the switch, and that’s precisely what he alluded to on Monday.

“If they do what they’re supposed to do and make us happy, yeah, we’ll move,” he said during the most recent episode of Undisputed on FS1, via MMA Junkie. “We’re talking about it. I think we can get there.”

It would take some unprecedented stubbornness from Ice Cube to dig his heels in and outright refuse to move and, if it comes to it, he will likely be given a blank cheque and kindly asked to be on his way.
