Horrible news for Irish MMA fighter set to headline Bellator event

Jack O'Toole

Irish MMA fighter James Gallagher has had to withdraw from Bellator 196 in Hungary after injuring his hand.

Gallagher was supposed to headline the card against Adam Borics in Budapest on April 6 but will now delay his return to the cage after suffering his latest injury setback.

The Tyrone native has not fought since last summer when he defeated Chinzo Machida in New York and his delay could now be prolonged even further following the injury to his hand.

Former UFC Lightweight champion Benson Henderson will now meet the returning Roger Huerta in the main event as the 34-year-old looks to bounce back from consecutive losses to Michael Chandler and Patricky Freire.

Bellator 196 will take place at Budapest Sports Arena and it is the second event the promotion has held in the Hungarian capital.
