You, like us, were probably wondering why the highly-anticipated fight between Hector Lombard and Rory MacDonald had been scrapped from the UFC 186 card.
Well the reason, we now know, is that Lombard (35-4-1, 1NC)Â tested positive for the anabolic steroid desoxymethyltestosterone in his UFC 182 drug test.
The 37-year-old Cuban beat Josh Burkman via unanimous decision that night five weeks ago but it has now been revealed, in a report from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, that the welterweight had traces of the PED in his system.
Ariel Helwani broke the news just recently that he had spoken to Lombard who claimed to have been unaware of his fight cancellation and his positive test.
This is just the latest incident of a high-profile fighter testing positive for traces of steroids after an out-of-competition drug test on UFC legend Anderson Silva came back with traces of PEDs last week.
Ireland’s own Cathal Pendred, who competes in the same weight division as Lombard, revealed his lack of surprise at the news via Twitter.
Lombard is on PEDs!! I am this shocked right now… pic.twitter.com/JG60ZERZvP
