The cat is in the sack, the pee is in the cup, the plane is off to Utah.
It’s official – Jose Aldo has peed in a sterilised container for the second time in 24 hours!
The UFC featherweight champion was at the centre of a drug-testing storm, this week, when a urine sample, taken by Ben Mosier of Drug Free Sport, was discarded.
Mosier had arrived at Aldo’s training facilities and requested the sample. His coach, Andre Pederneiras, was unhappy at the random appearance of Mosier and contacted the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission [CABMMA].
Mosier had not flagged his plans with the national body and had his knuckles rapped. He was ordered to vacate the country within eight days and fined the equivalent of €140. The urine sample was discarded, prompting Conor McGregor to label Aldo and his coach as weasels.
The latest from Rio de Janeiro, where the champion is preparing for his July 11 title bout with McGregor, is that, under CABMMA supervision, Aldo has given a second sample to a tester accredited by World Anti-Doping Agency.
The sample will be sent to WADA-accredited Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Also present at the testing was Mosier.
Regardless of the new test, McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, was not pleased that the Mosier sample was discarded:
