Former UFC champ says it’s ‘unbelievable’ that Conor McGregor hasn’t agreed to Aldo rematch

Sticking up for his fellow Brazilian.

All the talk in UFC circles since last weekend’s momentous title victory has surrounded Conor McGregor’s next move.

The Dubliner has the choice of either defending his featherweight belt against top contender Frankie Edgar or moving up to lightweight to take on champion Rafael dos Anjos, who successfully retained his belt in convincing fashion last night.

Another option that seems to be being dismissed by UFC matchmakers is a rematch with Jose Aldo, who is determined to bounce back from his 13-second knockout at the hands of McGregor.

And the Brazilian’s claim has the support of countryman Junior dos Santos, the former heavyweight champion, who believes that if the likes of Ronda Rousey can be handed an immediate second bite at Holly Holm, then Aldo should be given the same courtesy.

In quotes relayed by BJPenn.com, Dos Santos said: “I think that’s the most unfair thing ever. Because how can they give Cain Velasquez a rematch, how can they give Ronda Rousey a rematch, and they will not give Jose Aldo?”

“The one who most deserves a rematch, they’re not giving him this rematch. That’s unbelievable!”
