Fight nerds will be intrigued with new measurement on UFC Dublin’s tale of the tape

Well, that’s new.

If you’re part of the “never misses an event, never leaves your house, washes yourself with a rag on a stick” sector of MMA fans you’ll already have noticed something different on UFC Dublin’s tale of the tape.

For previous UFC events, the tale of the tape consisted of the fighter’s height, what they weighed in at and their reach. However, the promotion has introduced a new measurement for leg reach for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 76 event headlined by Dustin Poirer vs Joseph Duffy.

Leg reach is measured from the hipbone to the heel and considering how many knees and kicks we see in the sport, it is a welcome addition to the tale of the tape. One noticeable aspect about the measurement is that there appears to be a much narrower gap in leg reach between two opponents as opposed to their arm reach.

The other take away from this addition is that Norman Parke’s opponent for the event appears to have opted to leave his legs at home for the fight.

Looks like that fight’s definitely going to the ground, anyway.
