Explanation of tweet confirming Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather would nearly have you convinced

It must be on!

Welcome to 2000-and-Chael!

It’s far from booked yet, but there is an air of inevitability surrounding the proposed crossover mega-fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.

Whenever there’s that much money on the line and that much intrigue being sparked, it would seem like the only logical move would be to do the illogical and just go ahead and make it happen. It doesn’t make much sense, but who cares? Pretty much everyone would tune in.

It’s impossible to ignore the fact that we don’t seem to be much closer to a date and venue. So when a tweet like this gets sent out, it can fall on deaf ears.

The thing about Chael Sonnen though, is that he always has an answer for everything. The explanation for the tweet he gave on his podcast You’re Welcome is a real doozy too.

“For some reason, both of these fighters have said they’re fighting, but no reporter has announced it. Now I have information from someone higher than that, which is a guy at a ticketing company where the ‘build’ was sent in.”

“To tell you what that means, it’s called a ‘build’. In that industry, that’s when you submit to the ticketing company, what you want, what your card is, what your date is – essentially, your schematics, this is what the arena layout is going to look like. That’s called the build, that’s the first step to lining up your tickets. The build was submitted, and I got it right from the ticketing guy.”

This did come with the caveat of uncertainty, but Sonnen believes it is accurate. How specific he was with his explanation is also worth noting.

“Whether that information is accurate or not, I believe it is. I believe it is enough that I reported it, I tweeted it. I will tell you again, I don’t know how to use any clearer language, Conor and Floyd are going to fight.”

Well, we guess it’s on so!
