WATCH: Donald Cerrone has terrified a lot of fight fans with his gruesome Instagram update

UFC fan-favourite has taken to Instagram to confirm that he will be fighting at UFC 206 as planned, despite having a nasty-looking eye.

Cerrone has had a tough time finding fights this year. The former UFC lightweight title challenger had initially been linked with a main card fight against former 170 lb champion Robbie Lawler at the historic UFC 205 event back in the card’s infancy, but that fight fell through due to “Ruthless” requiring more time off after suffering brutal first round knockout to Tyron Woodley.

He was then matched up with top welterweight Kelvin Gastelum for a main card welterweight bout on the same card, but the fight was scrapped after Gastelum failed to make weight. Cerrone tipped the scales at 170.4 lbs and was given his show money as compensation.

It didn’t take long for him to book another fight. He was subsequently matched up against another crowd-pleaser, Matt Brown, at the Toronto event on December 10.

However, Cowboy uploaded a video of himself to Instagram to give an update on the fight which appears to show him with a gruesome eye injury. He claims that doctors managed to save his eye, but he just needs to rest up and he will be ready for fight night.

“What’s going on everybody? It’s Cowboy. Before the media puts out what happened I just wanted to let you know I’m still fighting in Toronto on December 10.”

“Yeah, I’m still fighting. Everything’s good. After hours on the table doctors were able to save my eye. No issues there. A couple of weeks to let it heal up. So, see you all in Toronto. Shit, can’t catch a break on this fight.”

There are few details about Cerrone’s injury status, but there are rumours circulating that it may be special effects make-up for an upcoming show he’s set to appear in for Netflix.

However, the sight of Cerrone’s eye coupled with his suggestion that he nearly lost it on the operating table has caused a lot of worry among fight fans.
