When news broke last month that Anderson Silva had tested positive for performance enhancing drugs, we all presumed that he’d hang up his gloves.
Because whether guilty or not, the judicial process of the Nevada State Athletic Commission would likely take over a year when Anderson would be approaching his 41st birthday.
The former middleweight champion tested positive for anabolic steroids Drostanolone and Androstane in an out-of-competition drug test on January 9 before also testing positive for Drostanolone, as well as sleeping medication Oxazepam and anti-anxiety medication Temazepam in a post-fight drug test on January 31.
But it came out last night that the Brazilian has requested a continuance for his disciplinary hearing by the NSAC to be heard on April 9th, rather than next Monday, and that the request had been granted.
Sources close to the camp of “The Spider” told UFC Tonight last night that Silva had no plans on retiring.
“[Silva’s] team asked for an extension and it will probably be heard in April,” revealed UFC Tonight. “With all these delays, it’s up in the air when he’ll fight again.
“His team says he’s 100 percent not retiring. He’s not done with his fighting career.”
