Nobody get your hopes up for Conor McGregor to be returned to the UFC 200 fight card.
UFC president Dana White has reiterated that ‘The Notorious’ will not be fighting this July but McGregor’s next move could be confirmed as soon as Wednesday night.
White revealed that he is to meet with the UFC featherweight champion tonight in Los Angeles, their first face-to-face meeting since the now infamous fallout from McGregor’s refusal to fulfil certain media obligations last month.
“Lorenzo and I are having dinner with Conor McGregor,” White told SportsCenter. “So tonight at like, 10 (p.m.), I’ll have a lot more answers on the Conor McGregor situation.”
McGregor hinted at retirement after deciding not to attend a press conference in Las Vegas last month and the UFC duly called his bluff by pulling him from UFC 200.
With rumours that his next fight will take place at UFC 202, White has pushed the issue that nothing that takes place in tonight’s crucial meeting will change the fact that McGregor won’t be competing at UFC 200.
“He will not be on UFC 200,” White said. “Not at all. That ship sailed. But we’ve put that behind us, and we’re in a good place with Conor, and we’re looking to make his next fight. We should have that done tonight.”
