The UFC president has Rousey-Holm II lined up for UFC 200 and could well include the featherweight kingpins on a stacked card.
Dana White has often painted himself into corners with pronouncements and predictions but he held back at last night’s Las Vegas press conference.
White has already told UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm that her first title defense will be against Ronda Rousey, most likely at UFC 200 in July 2016.
Pairing up Jose Aldo with Conor McGregor, whatever the outcome at UFC 194, would appear to make the most sense.
White, however, is hedging his bets.
He said, “You can’t even talk about rematches until the fight is over.
“I don’t even know. We’ve got to see how the fight goes and what happens. It depends on the two people within the fight.
“Ronda Rousey had never lost. She has been the only 135lbs champion in the UFC so it depends.”
For his part, during last week’s UFC 194 conference call, McGregor had one condition on a rematch with Aldo.
He said, “If Jose can come and bring a war and we can do this for five rounds then maybe I will consider a rematch.
“But I feel he won’t get up off the stool and answer that bell for the second round.”
