Gunni versus Wonderboy at UFC Dublin?
Sounds pretty good to us.
Steve Thompson put in a dominant performance to claim victory over Jake Ellenberger in the TUF 21 Finale, last night.
Wonderboy, who has extensively trained with Georges St-Pierre and Chris Weidman, ended the contest with a spinning head kick and was the toast of the night.
The 32-year-old fighter was lauded by UFC fighters, bosses and, of course, online after his triumph.
Even before the bout, Gunnar Nelson’s coach was angling for an October date in Dublin.
Sitting down to @WonderboyMMA now. As a fan, him v @GunniNelson for @ufc Dublin main event in October sounds good @seanshelby !

The fight itself, and the emphatic result, did nothing to ease Kavanagh’s enthusiasm.
He believes Nelson, who secured an impressive submission win over Brandon Thatch at UFC 189, would be a good match up for the kickboxing leanings of Thompson.
Wow what a great performance by @WonderboyMMA – let's do Dublin in October! #Karate #UFCDublin #Gunni-V-Stephen @seanshelby

Two hours later and the plot thickened.
Late last night, White then sent this message to the Icelandic fighter.
@GunniNelson don't forget to come see me

Asked about Nelson before his UFC 189 victory, White said, ‘Love the kid; love his style… He is super talented and he has huge potential. He has a very unique fighting style and his ground game is amazing.
‘He can go all the way. The kid is completely talented.’
Two welterweights on the up, clashing at a sold-out 3 Arena, in October, in front of an Irish crowd that consider Nelson one of their own.
With McGregor slated in for a unification bout with Jose Aldo on January 2, thus ruling him out of UFC Fight Night Dublin, Nelson versus Thompson as main event has a nice ring to it.
