Dana White deliberately confuses Ireland with the UK to get a rise out of Conor McGregor

Calm down, Ireland

Ben Kiely

McGregor didn’t take the bait.

During a recent episode of UFC Tonight featuring Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor and Dana White, the promotion’s president seemed to make a glaring error by referring to Ireland as part of the UK.

“All of Brazil will be watching him defend his title (points to Aldo), all of the UK will be watching (points to McGregor). You’ll have Canada, United States, Australia…”

McGregor then interjected to correct White’s mistake.

“Ireland will be watching.”

White kept the joke running, clearly trying to get a reaction out of the Notorious.

“I thought that was the same thing, apparently not,” he retorted.

It failed to work though, as McGregor held his nerve and responded calmly but firmly by reaffirming , “It is most certainly not.”

White’s comments caused Irish MMA fans to lose the plot completely over having their country confused with their neighbours across the water. However Uncle Dana has since admitted on Twitter that it was all just a bit of fun.
