Conor McGregor has uncharacteristic response to latest Tony Ferguson callout

Interesting tactic

Sometimes it seems like Conor McGregor just gets a kick out of confusing people.

Just when you feel like you can predict the kind of response that McGregor will offer to callouts from his fellow fighters, he comes up with something like this.

We all know why McGregor is targeted by so many top fighters at featherweight, lightweight and welterweight. Hell, even middleweight legend Anderson Silva has made his interest in fighting ‘The Notorious’ known and it all boils down to money.

McGregor represents the biggest payday in mixed martial arts nowadays and when Tony Ferguson unexpectedly turned down the opportunity to fight Max Holloway for the interim 155lbs title, it became clear what he was hoping to accomplish.

Having already claimed interim gold without the opportunity to unify, Ferguson seemingly has his eyes set on money and has referenced McGregor on social media on several occasions since Holloway’s rematch with Dustin Poirier was announced last week.

First, Ferguson teased the McGregor fight on Instagram before, on Tuesday night, ‘El Cucuy’ tried to goad the Irishman into a war of words by promising to test his chin with “a solid right hand.”

McGregor didn’t bite, however, and instead responded with one of the kinder messages he’s had for one of his rivals as he dismissed his Paradigm Management stablemate with a surprising retort.

“If we have the ability to go back, Tony. Then we have the ability to go forward again!” McGregor wrote.

“I wish you well and am praying for you as a fellow colleague. Respect to my Paradigm familia.

“Yours sincerely, Burger King.”
