Conor McGregor has signed a new deal with the UFC

In it for the long haul

A new Conor McGregor UFC contract has been signed.

Earlier this year, Dana White reiterated the same point he made during the Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather circus. With his promoter cap glued onto his head, the UFC president did his best to cast some doubt over his biggest ever superstar’s return.

“It’s funny because that’s one of the things I said too. I said, ‘Listen, after Conor makes this money with Floyd, he may never fight again.’ And he hasn’t. He hasn’t fought since that fight.”

Me hole.

Flash forward two months and he’s sharing some Proper No. Twelve whiskey with ‘the Notorious’ on a New York stage in the build-up to his highly-anticipated return against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

It all that palaver was just business as usual. The fight has been hyped. Now the world waits for October 6.

In it for the long haul

Anyone who eagerly anticipated the first fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will have met the rumblings of a rematch with a groan. However, for MMA fans, this was great news. It means that the threat of a sequel to McGregor-Mayweather is dead in the water, for now.

Sure enough, it was announced after the UFC 229 press conference that McGregor had signed a new multi-fight deal with the promotion. White told ESPN that McGregor put pen to paper on a six-fight deal with the promotion. Terms were not disclosed, but White emphasised how lucrative it was. He claimed it could make McGregor the most money in the sport.

“It’s not hard to do a deal with Conor McGregor because we know what he’s worth,” told ESPN.

Looks like McGregor will be counting cash until his fingers look weirder than Megan Fox’s.
