It’s looking good for a rematch between Duffy and McGregor somewhere down the line.

Interim UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor took aim at compatriot Joseph Duffy during a snapchat Q&A for Fox Sports on Wednesday.

Duffy will feature in the headline bout alongside Dustin Poirier on the upcoming UFC event in the 3Arena in October. This comes just over a year after the Notorious played a starring role in the promotion’s return to Irish shores when he knocked out Diego Brandao in Dublin.

When asked about Duffy and Poirier providing the main event for this year’s Dublin card, McGregor seemed reluctant to give either fighter credit for drawing fans to the event.

Duffy submitted McGregor with a sublime arm-triangle just 38-seconds into their bout in the European promotion Cage Warriors. He is credited as being the last ever fighter to defeat McGregor inside the cage, which is something the Notorious admitted he would easily rectify should they throw down inside the Octagon.

After leaving MMA in 2011, Duffy began his professional boxing career in 2013. He held a perfect 7-0 record in the ring before making his return to the sport and eventually being signed by the UFC.

McGregor was unimpressed with Duffy’s stint as a boxer, and reckons that it reflects negatively on him as an MMA fighter. He also called the Donegal native’s nationality into question, presumably because of the fact he was raised in Wales, has trained in the UK and now trains in Tri-Star in Canada.

It feels like it’s only a matter of time now before we see these two square off inside a cage again.
