The fact that Conor McGregor was able to rally from a near-finish in an unfamiliar weight class against a much bigger man has led bookmakers to believe that he’s almost certainly going to win his next fight…. regardless of the opponent.
There are a few options on the table for ‘The Notorious’ now that he’s got back the only defeat of his UFC career.
The two most likely ones are a return to featherweight to defend his title against interim champion Jose Aldo in a rematch of UFC 194’s main event or a lightweight championship fight against Eddie Alvarez.
And the Irishman is favoured over both those fighters, with MMA betting line website BestFightOdds.com outlining the opening odds.
McGregor is considered a favourite, at just longer than 8/15, over both Aldo and Alvarez, according to the early lines.
Another option, albeit less likely, would be the immediate realisation of a trilogy with Diaz.
While UFC president Dana White is adamant that that fight is not what’s next in store for McGregor, it remains a possibility and if it’s possible, odds exist for it.
BestFightOdds show that that McGregor is understandably a favourite in a third outing with Diaz, coming in at slightly shorter than 8/15.
