Chad Mendes admitted getting over his loss to Conor McGregor will take some time.

The top-ranked UFC featherweight opened up on The MMA Hour about losing the main event at UFC 190.

“It’s definitely going to take some time. It’s something I still think about. Sometimes laying in bed, I’m still thinking about it. It’s going to take some time to get over it.”

“I’ve actually only watched it one time, and it hurt to watch.”

Mendes dominated the wrestling exchanges against the Notorious in Vegas for the opening two rounds, but made the fatal mistake of going for a guillotine at the end of the second stanza. McGregor sprawled brilliantly to escape the submission attempt to get the fight back standing where he brutally knocked him out.

Money explained that the loss still causing him pain, but he is confident that a rematch with the Dubliner would play out very differently.

“That’s part of the game. You get in there, you win, sometimes you lose. This is something that still hurts me a bit, but I truly believe in my mind that there’s going to be a time very soon that me and Conor meet up again, I’ll have a full training camp and I will beat that guy.”

The Team Alpha Male product stepped in to face McGregor at two weeks notice for injured champion Jose Aldo. Mendes reckons that with a full training camp, he would definitely defeat the Irish man.

“110% (I would win with a full training camp) There’s no doubt in my mind. I’m not making excuses or anything like that. I just feel that if I’m prepared for that fight I win that fight. Every single time.”

“It sucks, that’s the hardest part, because I know I can beat this guy.”
