The UFC’s undisputed featherweight champion had a few things to get off his mind.
Conor McGregor has taken to Facebook and addressed some of the pressing issues in his increasingly hectic life.
In a lengthy, passionate and, at times, amusing address, McGregor thanked media outlets for naming him MMA Fighter of the Year, told Floyd Mayweather he now runs the fight game and joked about being included in Rolling Stone’s ‘Sexiest People of 2015’ list.
He also gave his take on a likely meeting with Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 197, in March.
The lightweight title clash could be confirmed in the next 24 hours and added to a card that already has women’s bantamweight champ Holly Holm fighting Miesha Tate in the co-main event.
McGregor prides himself on being able to carry out his bold predictions. Last night, his next opponent got the Mystic Mac treatment:
‘My next fight… What can I say, it’s just another night of easy work for me.
‘I don’t just own the game. I run it too.’
McGregor also took time to apologise for the Instagram post that led to An Garda Síochána looking into the circumstances behind a picture of the Dubliner posing with an imitation gun. In doing so, he also admonished the many media outlets that ran stories about a possible Garda investigation.
‘I apologise for having the air-soft in public,’ he wrote. ‘I was simply rehearsing for a potential upcoming film role.
‘I understand that the more traffic a story can get the more revenue it generates. So I understand and respect that the media must create these stories and these situations even if at times it is at other people’s expense.
‘We’ve all got to eat. And I eat well. So I will not complain.’
