Surprising stuff from the world of MMA betting this morning as Conor McGregor momentarily overtook Jose Aldo as favourite for their UFC 189 featherweight title fight.
There was a chunk of money lumped onto “The Notorious” today despite the fact that his bout is still five months away and, some oddsmakers moved him to favourite.
Mixed martial arts handicapper Luca Fury explained the line movement.
Conor @TheNotoriousMMA McGregor (-125) is now the favorite over Jose Aldo (-115) for their @UFC 189 featherweight title fight.

This would be only the 2nd time in Aldo’s career that he’s the underdog. First time was him +120 against Mike Brown at WEC 44 on 11/18/2009. — Luca Fury – FFP (@FurysFightPicks) February 13, 2015
Not surprisingly, money has come back on Aldo within the last hour and he is now the slight favorite at -130, while McGregor is -110.

Expect the betting stakes to fluctuate over the next months as Irish punters get behind their favourite son ahead of the 145lb title decider on July 11.
Aldo has been favourite for every single title defence since he became the first UFC featherweight champion in 2010.
