Another world champion and teammate of Chad Mendes eyes superfight with Conor McGregor

No shortage of options for The Notorious

It seems that everyone within 10 lbs of Conor McGregor wants a piece of the Dubliner.

Not only does he have the whole featherweight division looking for a big-money match-up against him but McGregor has a number of lightweights willing to welcome him back up to 155 lbs.

And now it seems that bantamweights are even throwing their hats in the McGregor ring with 135 lb champion TJ Dillashaw claiming that he wants a shot at The Notorious.

Dillashaw defends his title against Renan Barao this weekend but he revealed that, after McGregor fought Alpha Male teammate Chad Mendes at UFC 189, he was itching to take on the Irishman.

Speaking to MMAJunkie, Dillashaw said: “I’m sure everyone would love this fight, but I would love to fight Conor McGregor after he fought my teammate and beat my teammate (Mendes).

“I would love that fight. He’s the interim champion of the world, I don’t know when him and Aldo are going to fight, that’s probably going to be next, but I would love to fight that guy as well.”

Dillashaw went on to say that he believes Mendes would have beaten The Notorious if he had more than three weeks to prepare for the interim title fight.

“My biggest worry was Chad’s cardio for that fight; he had the skills to beat that guy, I just hoped his cardio would hold up. ”

Chad has had a little bit of issues with his cardio when he has a full camp. He took this fight on 10 days. I was hoping he could push through it, but he still showed big holes in Conor’s game. Chad with a full camp would have won that fight.”

McGregor and Dillashaw will get to know each other quite well over the coming months as the bantamweight champion plans on helping out on the coaching staff Urijah Faber on Season 22 of The Ultimate Fighter.

“After my fight I’m probably going to go out there and help Urijah for a couple weeks; I want to help some of the guys and help motivate,” Dillashaw said.

“I’m interested to see how it goes down. I’m sure it will be very interesting knowing who Conor is. I’m sure he’s going to talk a lot and it’s going to make some good TV. It’s going to be entertaining to see.”
