Another superfight opportunity has already presented itself for Conor McGregor

Could you imagine?

Another UFC champion has declared his interest in a red panty night bout with Conor McGregor.

As we edge closer towards the Notorious’ first UFC superfight against Rafael dos Anjos, he may already have his next one in the works.

Newly-crowned bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz declared his interest to Breitbart Sports in fighting the Dubliner following his title-winning performance against TJ Dillashaw at UFC Boston.

“That’s why we’re in this fight business. We’re in it not just not just to show ourselves how good we are, but also to make money. And the big-money fights, that’s what Conor’s doing.”

Cruz (21-1) is undefeated at 135 lb, but confessed that if he were to fight McGregor, it would be for the featherweight strap.

“At ’45, I could fight him. I don’t think at ’55 it would be good for me. I’m not that big. But at ’45 I could make a move for that.”

The Dominator’s only loss came in the 145 lb division via guillotine choke at the hands of perpetual contender Urijah Faber in the WEC back in 2007. Cruz avenged that loss by defending his bantamweight crown to the California Kid at UFC 132 before he was forced to relinquish the belt due to inactivity.

When asked if he thought he could dethrone the Notorious, Cruz responded, ‘Of course I’m gonna beat him’.

He admitted that the huge payday that comes with fighting the promotion’s biggest star would be too good of an opportunity to pass up. However, there are rumours of a superfight between Cruz and flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson being in the works, which he also alluded to.

“No matter what we do, we’re putting our body on the line, so if we’re going to put our body on the line it might as well be for the most money possible. And that’s what superfights would serve, so absolutely I’d take any superfight.”

Not all superfights are created equal and although he holds a victory over DJ,  there is little doubt that the McGregor bout would be better for his bank balance.
